If you are new to yoga, the best classes to start with are Yoga for Beginners, Ashaya Level 1 (Basic), Mindful Movement, or Gentle/Restorative Yoga.
Yoga for Beginners is designed for people who have little or no yoga experience. Students will learn the basic postures, breathing techniques, the parts of a Sun Salutation, relaxation techniques, and some basic yoga philosophy. Flexibility is not required! You must be able to get up and down to the floor. This class is taught as a 8-10 week series, several times throughout the year. (May not be offered during the covid pandemic.)
Ashaya Level 1 is also suitable for beginners who are ready to jump into an ongoing class. This is a Basic level class, and will include sun salutations, standing poses, twists, seated poses, back bends, and more. Each class includes yoga philosophy, centering, attention to breath, and ends with Savasana (lying down relaxation).
Mindful Movement is a blend of mostly yoga with more specific practices to develop the fundamentals of good movement generally: joint function, balance, vision, and breathing skills. This class draws upon yoga traditions as well as recent neuroscience, emotional intelligence, and modern movement modalities to develop your body awareness, improve your energy management, increase coordination, flexibility and strength, and help you engage your life in a full-hearted, thoughtful, and creative way.
Gentle Yoga is a more relaxing class where you access the fluid movements of your spine and hips to create a feeling of freedom in the body. This class often ends with a 20 minute Yoga Nidra (guided deep relaxation.) This gentle class is also ideal for people with physical restrictions in the hips, knees, or shoulders.
Restorative Yoga includes gentle stretches and supported poses for a very relaxing experience. Some poses will be held for a longer time (5-15 minutes) supported by props to allow full release and relaxation of muscle tension.
If you are an experienced yoga student, please refer to Class Information and Descriptions or give us a call to decide which class would be best for you.

Do not eat for 2-3 hours before class, and please do not wear heavy jewelry or strong fragrances to class. All yoga props (including premium Manduka Pro mats) are supplied for free.
