Introduction to Yoga
This 6 week series is for new students who want a systematic approach from the very beginning. In just a few weeks you will learn fundamental yoga poses, begin to reduce stress, and feel better in your body, mind, and spirit. This class series assumes you have little or no previous yoga experience. The only prerequisites are a curiosity about yoga and the ability to get up and down to and from the floor. In order to get the most out of this class, it is requested that you register for the entire course. Drop ins will not be permitted.

Foundations
The AnusaraŽ Foundations class is designed for students new to yoga or for those new to Anusara Yoga. Over the course of several weeks we focus on fundamental poses to strengthen and open the hips, legs, back, and shoulders, with an emphasis on standing poses, Sun Salutations, and a variety of seated, reclined, and balancing poses. The Universal Principles of Alignment according to AnusaraŽ are presented and students are introduced to yoga philosophy, breathing techniques and relaxation.

Intermediate
This class is ideal for those who already practice yoga and feel ready to extend their practice to more complex poses. Each month focuses on a different variety of poses, building from week to week so you can slowly move deeper into your practice. A wide variety of poses are taught, including deeper back bends, arm balances, and preps for inversions. This class is designed to empower students to gradually advance through levels of practice. Yoga philosophy as it relates to daily life, breathing exercises, meditation, and relaxation are also included to offer a full experience of yoga. It is recommended that students have at least 6 months of yoga instruction before moving into this class.

Intermediate/Advanced
This class progressively introduces more challenging standing poses, back bends, and seated poses. Handstand, headstand, and forearm balance are included regularly. This level includes refined study of Anusara’s Universal Principles and the Shiva/Shakti Tantric philosophy, as well as pranayama, meditation, and relaxation. Regular practice outside of class is strongly encouraged. Intermediate/Advanced students should be able to kick to the wall in handstand unassisted.

Advanced
This class is for students with an extensive yoga background. Each month will progress toward an advanced pose on the Anusara Syllabus. Students must be able to hold a freestanding headstand, kick unassisted into handstand and Pincha Mayurasana at the wall, and push up to Urdhva Dhanurasana with straight arms. Anusara’s Universal Principles are studied in greater depth as well as the Shiva/Shakti Tantric philosophy. Pranayama, meditation, and relaxation are also incorporated. At least one year of regular AnusaraŽ study is necessary. Regular practice outside of class is expected.

Gentle Yoga
Gentle Yoga Classes follow the program of regular classes of the same level but at a slower pace and with a range of modifications to make the poses progressively more accessible. Sun salutations are replaced by gentle flows.

Power Lunch
This is a vigorous, one hour long class for intermediate and advanced students, with all categories of poses included. A strong understanding of AnusaraŽ alignment principles is suggested in order to get the most enjoyment out of this class as well as to prevent injury.

Mixed Levels
This class accommodates a variety of yoga experience. The instructor will gear the class to the majority of the students with variations and modifications given to accommodate both beginning and experienced students.

Vinyasa Yoga
Ideal for those who already practice yoga and feel ready to experiment with a more upbeat energetic class. While emphasizing heart-opening, this class will link each posture with the breath to orchestrate the movement from one pose to the next. A strong understanding of Anusara alignment principles is suggested in order to get the most enjoyment out of this class as well as to prevent injury.

Yoga Therapy
Yoga Therapy is a modality that uses the techniques of yoga to help with pain management, increase flexibility, and improve posture. AnusaraŽ Yoga's Universal Principles of Alignment™ safely and effectively realign your body toward its optimal blueprint, reducing tension, stress, and pain. In your private, 30 minute session, you’ll receive one-on-one, hands-on adjustments, and learn stretching and strengthening techniques to use at home. Please call or stop by the front desk to schedule an appointment.

Pilates & Yoga Fusion
Experience the benefits of a pilates and yoga combination class. This class focuses on the abdominal muscles crucial to supporting a healthy back. Basic yoga and pilates postures will be progressively seamed together to strengthen your “core” as well as challenge all muscle groups in new ways. This is a mixed-level class open to experienced beginners and higher.

Restorative Yoga
This is a healing and rejuvenating class for all levels. It includes gentle stretches, breathing, and restorative poses, as well as simple movements to increase range of motion of the major joints. It is ideal for students with chronic symptoms such as muscle/joint pain, stiffness, weakness, or fatigue, or anyone who wants a restful practice.

Aikido Beginners and Mixed Levels
Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art, created by the late master Morihei Ueshiba, who devoted his life to the study and assimilation of many of Japan’s ancient martial arts. The ultimate goal of aikido practice is the development of the ability to lead to the peaceful resolution of conflict. Through training, one learns to blend with and neutralize an attacker’s aggression. There is no competition in aikido. Students work with one another to improve their skills in dealing with various attacks. The practice of aikido is appropriate for people of all ages. In addition to learning practical self defense skills, the training is designed to improve one’s physical well being while creating a calm and peaceful demeanor. One common interpretation of the word aikido is "the way to spiritual harmony." Classes are open to all students ages 12 and up.

Writing Yoga
This is a one-hour class to help you explore how keeping a journal can enhance your experience on and off your yoga mat. Themes for contemplation are introduced, and ample time is given for you to explore a pose and write about your experience in a guided way. This process will inspire your practice and help you deepen your understanding of yourself and your yoga. Please bring a journal or notebook.

Chair Yoga
A gentle practice of a variety of seated and standing yoga postures with the support of a chair. It includes a breathing practice and a final meditation. You will be surprised how many foundation poses are accessible with the help of a chair!
